Defunding the postal service is bigger than just another conspiracy from the right wing loonies. WTF are we supposed to do when the mortgage and credit card bills don’t get to Los Angles on time? What about the gas and water bill? What about mailed medications etc... people actually still mail things include the right w ing nuts.

Yes. And reporting today that President Trump may be talking that one back a bit. Everyone depends upon the USPS. My local USPS people have been my heroes during the Difficulties. Personally, I think this is going to be a loser for Donnie.

45 is already talking back his opposition to not funding USPS. I think this is going to be a loser for him because even Karen needs to be able to depend upon the USPS. And during the Difficulties, USPS have shown just how vitally important they are.

When people start seeing mass medication delays and vital bills being delayed due to the reported “adjustments” done by the newly appointed Postmaster, I think we will see a bit more backlash. It’s already being reported that this is happening to a smaller extent. As well today I saw the headline that the post office is warning 46 states that their ballots may be delayed.

If you inspect most of the social policy of the current administration, as well as that of many previous administrations, going back to at least Reagan, through the lens of traditional Marxist Class Theory, it seems clear that the social divisions of wealth, the rural/urban divide, race, etc, are constructed by the ruling class for the purpose of instigating infighting within the subject class.

This recent round of disenfranchisement seeks to further restrict the subject class’s ability to interact with their government; stalwart supporters of the administration continue to support the restriction of constitutional rights by their rulers, contrary to their well-intentioned desire for a government that serves their needs. By supporting action that would restrict the rights of their fellow citizen, they restrict their own right to the same.

However, it is in the best interest of the two nominal opponents within the subject class to advance the expression of their social peer’s rights, even when their supposed opponent supports social action that would appear to be contrary to the other’s goal- supporting the ability of your social peer opponent to advocate for their desires is beneficial to you because it allows the ruling class to be bent to the will of the subject.

That seems like a lot of detail for what I understood as, the people with the pants in this country would rather have us fight over which political party is trying to intervene in the next election. Rather than taking a step back and seeing who benefits the most from disenfranchising many voters, likely those at the top and already in power as they will have less worry about mass voter retribution.

A functioning postal service is a social good, something needed in a legitimate developed nation. The USPS has generally performed a commendable service given the size of the nation, the dipshitty funding gongshow, and the criticism it receives. Of course, the so-called right has no desire to retain that “legitimate developed nation” distinction.

In short:

It’s easier to argue among your own class than it is to reject authority. So, the ruling class gives us something easy to fight over. “Vote by mail” is a “something easy to fight over”, and the USPS is casualty to that fight.

The USPS has been irreparably fuct since the “Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act” of 2006, which passed with unanimous consent - meaning that nobody in the Senate objected to it - and was signed into law by W.

The problems with the USPS aren’t an R or a D or a Trump thing, they’re the result of something that was agreed upon by both sides at the time , and one of the dumbest things the government has ever done.

Also, if you’re concerned about your ballot getting out in a timely manner, you round up some spare change and put a stamp on it .
